How to automate RFQ intake
A practical starting point for manufacturers in Montreal and Quebec.
One focused first workflow
Start with one recurring request type. Gather a few redacted examples, including an incomplete request and a revised drawing.
Define the required information
For each request, list the customer, part, quantity, material, revision, drawing, and requested date. Separate information received from information inferred: uncertainty must stay visible.
Design for exceptions
A missing drawing, duplicate, or new revision should trigger human review. Test these cases before expanding the workflow. Check who can access the documents, too.
Keep an approval step
Prepare a draft record in a review queue. The estimator validates the information and quote before sending. Measure corrections and time spent at each stage. Those observations guide the next phase; they do not guarantee a commercial outcome.
